About Exhibition

A mine is a place where you almost never see the entire path. There is only the space ahead, the next section of rock, and
the work that must be done.

“Light at the End of the Tunnel” is an exhibition about this condition, a kind of metaphor for life and coming of age. About moving through events that
are not always possible to understand in the moment. About the gradual formation of a person—views, memory, and one’s own way of seeing the world.

At the center of this story is the experience of a person who grew up in the Donetsk region and later found themselves in Kyiv. Eastern Ukraine appears here not as geography, but as
a cultural environment: industrial cities, labor, metal, factory landscapes. What was part of everyday life gradually begins to be read
as a system of images and signs.

Together with the person, the meaning of these images changes as well. The familiar environment becomes material for art. The post-industrial
transforms into a space for the new—that which is born from lived experience.

The very concept of “easterner” changes separately as well. It ceases to be merely a geographic designation. After 2014, and especially after 2022,
the experience of Donbas in the Ukrainian context acquires a different weight. Place of origin becomes part of a more complex question about memory,
identity, belonging, and how personal past relates to the country’s history.

The mine in this system of images is not so much a symbol of darkness as a model of existence. A person descends underground, where there is no complete picture,
and begins to work anyway. Not knowing how much remains until the exit or what will come next. Constant labor forms certain visions and character
that become the foundation for the works.

The same is true of life, coming of age, and the artist’s work. Some things only become clear with the benefit of hindsight. Mistakes, losses, changes
of place, shifts in perspective, and the practice itself gradually coalesce into a single experience.

The works gathered here span various series and periods of creativity; indeed, beyond their visual diversity, one can discern connections across time.
Not as a ready-made conclusion, but as material honed over the years and through practice.

Therefore, the “light at the end of the tunnel” here is not necessarily a promise of a better future. Rather, it signifies the opportunity to look back and
see how far one has come.

Grab a pickaxe and descend into the darkness of the mine—extract the ore of life.
